As for most of us, the beach is the one place where we can go to escape the hustle of our daily lives. The annual Sara's Beach Walk is held in honor of the late Sara Goodwin and is held every year actually on the beach!
The Beach Walk raises money for the Sara Goodwin Memorial Foundation to help charities that are dedicated to improving the futures of children in our community and around the world.
One of the charities that the Foundation works with is SOS Children’s Villages-USA. Founded in 1949 to help children orphaned from WWII, the organization still provides for children who are no longer able to live in a loving and stable home environment. SOS-USA has 1,799 facilities and programs in over 132 countries and territories around the globe. These programs provide love and support, as well as education and training, to children and young adults from homes where their families were unable to give these things.
Through SOS-USA, the Sara Goodwin Foundation has adopted 20 children around the world and assists in purchasing clothing, food, medical supplies, and educational tools throughout their educational years in the program. In the SOS Villages, children are raised in homes with mothers and siblings and are brought up in a healthy, happy, family environment. We are dedicated to helping these children receive the benefits that would never have been available to them without our support. Together we can make a difference. This is an event that the entire community can be proud of. We look forward to walking alongside all of you and thank you for helping to make the children's dreams a reality.
